๐Ÿ… LSU :: Homecoming
If you've never been to a Saturday night game in Baton Rouge, if you're skeptical... it is fierce. It is the best place - in the world - to watch a sporting event. I went almost every year the last ten years with my dad. He would always get tickets to kind of less than prime time opponents - Western Kentucky, Tulane, Ole Miss ... and I would fly down from NYC to go. This may seem crazy, to fly across the country for a football game. It made perfect sense. These games were never forced to be daytime games by ESPN, and all of them except for Ole Miss, were usually easy wins. All the games we went to were at night, when it is about 30 degrees cooler and almost always raucous. This year was too. Even Shaq was there, firing the t-shirt cannon. I had a great time, stayed till the end. Even went down on the field, something I may never do again. But mostly, I missed my dad.

Since Jane's Addiction hopefully never tries to recreate the 90s again.

โœŠ๐Ÿพ Ralph Carter :: Good Times

GOOD TIMES was one of my favorite shows in high school. Chicago's WGN had a killer afterschool lineup that included "Good Times", the original "Star Trek", "Welcome Back, Kotter" and often Cubs games announced by Harry Caray (who I later learned was usually drunk on air). Even though Good Times was filmed live in front of a studio audience, I bought in to the whole Cabrini Green experience. I watched almost every episode eventually. When I moved to Fort Greene I would see Ralph Carter all the time hanging out on Myrtle Ave, holding the door for people at the bank, acknowledging young kids who yelled at him ("Good Times!") with the Black Power salute. He must of known I recognized him because one day I was standing outside a pizza place with my buddy Dave one day andhe silently gave me a pound.
